Bristol Rugby are back where they belong, in the Premiership.
Last night was a truly momentous occasion for the whole of Bristol as we saw seven years of heartache for Bristol Rugby come to an end. Bristol Rugby secured the Greene King IPA Championship, following a two-leg victory over Doncaster Knights.
Despite losing 34-32 on the night (with two tries being scored in a period of 5 minutes by Doncaster), Bristol held on to banish the demons of last year’s crushing playoff final defeat.
A record number of over 16,000 supporters (including some of team Studio Diva) filled Ashton Gate to experience a tense but electrifying atmosphere. If lasts night’s atmosphere is anything to go by, it promises to be a remarkable sporting venue when the capacity reaches 27,000 this summer. Not only will the stadium be one of the largest in the Aviva Premiership it will be a landmark for sport in the South West.
With a new season ahead and backing from the Club’s visionary owner Steve Lansdown, the future is looking very bright for not just Bristol Rugby but also Bristol Sport. You can expect to see plenty of Pride, Passion and Drama next season, and we can’t wait for kick off!
